The International Cricket Council on Wednesday appointed Chris Broad as match referee to oversee the proceedings of the four-match Test series between India and Australia.

The ICC also appointed four umpires -- Rudi Koertzen, Asad Rauf, Billy Bowden and Aleem Dar -- for the series beginning in Bangalore on October 9.

"The four-Test series will be overseen by Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees. Rudi Koertzen and Asad Rauf will be in charge of the first two Tests in Bangalore and Mohali while Billy Bowden and Aleem Dar will stand in the last two Tests in New Delhi and Nagpur," an ICC release said.
