577 - Australia's total in their first innings of the third Test in Delhi is their highest ever on Indian soil surpassing the 574 for 7 declared at Madras (now Chennai) in 1986-87

508 - Wicketless deliveries (legitimate) bowled by Anil Kumble since dismissing Ajantha Mendis in the first innings of Colombo (PSS) Test in August. Kumble finally managed to deceive Brad Haddin to get his first wicket in last four innings.

28 - Number of byes conceded by India wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. This is the joint third worst performance by any Indian wicketkeeper in an innings. Only Dinesh Karthik (35 vs Pakistan at Bangalore in 2007-08) and Budhi Kunderan (29 vs England at Kanpur in 1963-64) have conceded more, while Nayan Mongia also allowed 28 byes against Sri Lanka during their world record total at Colombo RPS in 1997-98.

26 - Number of times both sides posted a total of 500 or more in their first innings. It was the fourth such instance on Indian soil. On all three previous occasions match ended in a draw.

5 - Number of wickets taken by Virender Sehwag. This was not only his best performance in Test cricket, but also in all first-class matches. His previous best was 4 for 32 for North Zone v South Zone at Mumbai in 1998-99.

1 - First time five Australian batsmen scored at least a half-century in the same innings against India.
