Wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi is to join the Australian side in the West Indies as cover for Brad Haddin, Cricket Australia (CA) said on Friday.
Haddin broke a finger on his right hand during the first Test against West Indies in Jamaica and played with the injury during the drawn second Test in Antigua. X-rays after the match confirmed he had broken the finger.
The 27-year-old Ronchi will act as a shadow player should Haddin be ruled out of the third Test in Barbados, which starts on June 12, or the one-day series against West Indies, convenor of selectors Andrew Hilditch said in a statement.
"The need for Luke to remain with the squad will be decided as Brad Haddin's fitness becomes clearer," said Hilditch.
He is the second player this week to be called to the Caribbean after all-rounder Shane Watson was confirmed as replacing injured opening batsman Matthew Hayden.
Hayden returned to Australia after aggravating an Achilles' tendon injury.
