Statistical highlights of Day 1 in the first Test between India and Sri Lanka Test, in Colombo, on Wednesday.

This is the fifth Test involving India and Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka to be affected by rain; the previous four were at Colombo (SSC) in 1985-86; Kandy in 1993; Colombo (SSC) in 1998-99 and Galle in 2001-02.

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag are playing for the first time since the 2005-06 Ahmedabad Test against Sri Lanka.

Zaheer Khan made a comeback to the Indian Test side. He last played for India against Australia in the 2007-08 Melbourne Test.

Malinda Warnapura recorded his third Test fifty, his first against India.

Despite two ducks in seven innings, Warnapura, with his unbeaten 50, has taken his tally to 349 in five Tests at an average of 58.16.
