After Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and decided to bat, the veteran Jayasuriya gave them a good platform with a blitzkrieg 43 off just 37 balls, a knock that included eight hits to the fence.
The southpaw also shared a second-wicket partnership of 55 with his captain.
