The statistical highlights of the second day's play in the second cricket Test between India and Australia in Sydney on Thursday.

# Australia (463) registered their third 450-plus total in succession at SCG against India in as many Tests. In their previous two Tests against India at SCG, they had made 552 for 5 wickets declared in January 2000 and 474 in January 2004.

# India earned a dubious distinction by conceding 329 runs after six wickets had fallen for 134 - an unwanted record by India for conceding most runs for claiming last 4 wickets. India's previous record for conceding most runs for the last four wickets was 306 to New Zealand - 85 for six to 391 all-out at Auckland in 1989-90.

# Andrew Symonds (162 not out) posted his career-best score, bettering his 156 against England at Melbourne in December 2006.

# Thanks to his unbeaten knock, Symonds' batting average, for the first time in his career, has touched 40 - 862 runs at an average of 41.04, including two centuries and four fifties in 17 Tests.

# The eighth-wicket partnership of 114 between Symonds and Lee is Australia's second best against India, next only to the 117 between Simon Katich and Jason Gillespie at Sydney in 2003-04.

# Brett Lee registered his fourth fifty - his first against India.

# Lee's previous highest against India was 27 in the 1999-00 Melbourne Test.

# With 4 for 106 runs, Anil Kumble has taken his tally of wickets against Australia to 99 at 27.10 runs apiece in 16 Tests - the most by any bowler in India-Australia Tests.

# Kumble has equalled Kapil Dev's Indian record of most wickets against one country - 99 (ave.30.12) in 29 Tests against Pakistan.

# Kumble, with Stuart Clark's wicket, became the first bowler to claim 150 wickets as "LBW".

# VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid put on 175 for the second wicket, which is India's second 100-plus stand for the second wicket at SCG - India's best at this venue for the second wicket is 224 between Sunil Gavaskar and Mohinder Amarnath in 1985-86.

# Laxman registered his third 100-plus innings in succession at SCG - 167 off 198 balls in 1999-00; 178 off 298 balls in 2003-04 and 109 off 142 balls in 2007-08. In three Tests at SCG, Laxman has aggregated 461 runs in four innings at an average of 115.25.

# Laxman is now the third batsman in Test annals to have recorded three centuries in successive innings at SCG.

# Laxman is now the only Indian batsman to hit three centuries at SCG. Tendulkar has recorded two at this venue.

# Laxman's 12th hundred in Tests is his fifth against Australia. Both Laxman and Tendulkar have hit four centuries each in Australia and only Gavaskar (5) has recorded more in Australia than Laxman and Tendulkar for India.

# Rahul Dravid's 53 is his 50th fifty in Test cricket - his ninth against Australia.

# Dravid is the third batsman in Test annals to have recorded 50 fifties, joining Australia's Allan Border (63) and Steve Waugh (50).

# When his score reached 2, Sachin Tendulkar became the first Indian batsman to amass 500 runs at SCG in six innings (4 Tests).
