Statistical highlights of the tri-series one-day international between India and Australia in Melbourne on Sunday.

# India posted their eigth victory from the 16 ODIs they played at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

# India's win by five wickets is their first triumph at MCG after 16 years - their last win at this venue was against West Indies by five wickets on 16.1.1992.

# India have won five and lost six out of 11 played against Australia at MCG.

# India's aforesaid win is their first against Australia after 22 years - their last win was by 6 wickets on 31.1.1986.

# India set a record for playing the most number of Limited Overs Internationals, bettering Pakistan's tally of 674.

# Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsman to appear in 400 innings. He also became the first Indian to amass 1000 runs in Australia apart from becoming the first batsman to aggregate 2500 runs against a single opponent.

# Michael Hussey posted his first half century against India - his 11th overall.

# Adam Gilchrist recorded his 19th duck - his second against India, extending his Australian record for most ducks.

# Ishant Sharma (4/38) produced his career-best bowling performance, eclipsing his 1 for 7 against Australia at Brisbane on February 3, 2008.

# Mahendra Singh Dhoni, with 5 dismissals (4 catches + 1 stumping) has equalled an Indian wicketkeeping record in Australia, held by Sadanand Viswanath - 3 catches + 2 stumpings against England on 26.2.1985.

# Dhoni became the first Indian wicketkeeper to effect five dismissals in an innings against Australia, obliterating the record of Nayan Mongia, Chandrakant Pandit and Kiran more - 4 each.

# Dhoni and Nayan Mongia have effected 5 dismissals in an innings against three opponents.

# Harbhajan Singh captured his first ODI wicket in Australia, his victim being Brad Haddin.

# Irfan Pathan (2/26) recorded his best bowling figures at Melbourne Cricket Ground. In his previous two games against Australia at this venue, he could not claim a wicket.

# Hussey and Brett Lee were associated in a partnership of 53 runs for the 7th wicket, which is Australia's best against India at MCG, obliterating the 25 between Andrew Symonds and Ian Harvey in 2003-04.

# Sachin, with two catches in Australian innings, has taken his tally to 122, surpassing the tallies of two West Indian, Brian Lara (120) and Carl Hooper (120) and India's Rahul Dravid (121), moving into the sixth place amongst the fielders.

# Dhoni and Rohit Sharma put on 58 runs (unbroken) for the sixth wicket, India's best against Australia at MCG, eclipsing the 43 between Dilip Vengsarkar and Ravi Shastri in 1985-86.

# Brett Lee, with Gautam Gambhir's wicket, has emulated Steve Waugh's tally of 43 wickets against India. Both now share the record for most wickets for Australia against India in ODIs.
