Of course, the chumps played like champs in the second Test at Trent Bridge and defeated England quite convincingly. They could also have won the third and final Test at The Oval, if Dravid had shown a bit of imagination and adventurism and enforced the follow-on. That his fast bowlers were tired after having bowled so much in England's first innings was a poor, hollow excuse, and Zaheer Khan was the first to admit this and prove his captain wrong.
Rather than challenging their guts and gumption and ability to play under monumental pressure, Dravid gave the Englishmen a golden opportunity to try and save the Test. And they did. So instead of 2-0, we won the Test series by only a 1-0 margin.
Of course, a Test win on a foreign soil, particularly a series triumph, always tastes sweeter. And it is not surprising that most Indians have begun to indulge in their favorite pastime of glorifying the star players.
