Scorecard

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in the fifth one-day international in Vadodara on Thursday.

India, down 2-1, are hoping Sachin Tendulkar's 400th one-day appearance will inspire them to a series-levelling win.

Tendulkar hit a one-day record 84th half-century to lift the hosts to an eight-run victory on Monday as the hosts pulled back to a 2-1 deficit in the seven-match series.

The series opener was washed out.

Both teams retained the eleven that played in the previous game in Chandigarh.

Tendulkar, 34, who holds the one-day record for most runs (15,563), centuries (41) and fifties (84), becomes the second player after Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya to play in 400 one-dayers.

Teams:

India: Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh, Rahul Dravid, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Murali Kartik, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, R P Singh.

Australia: Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, Brad Hodge, Michael Clarke, Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds, Brad Hogg, James Hopes, Brett Lee, Nathan Bracken, Mitchell Johnson.
