Punjab conceded a 23-runs first innings lead to Hyderabad after being bowled out for 356 in reply to the visitors' total of 379 on the third day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Super League Group B match in Mohali on Saturday.
Resuming at the overnight score of 216 for three, Punjab added only 140 runs before losing the remianing seven wickets.
Hyderabad were 85 for two at close, a lead of 108 runs with eight wicket in hand on the penultimate day of the match.
Overnight batsmen Pankaj Dharmani was the first to go without adding to his yesterday's score of 52.
C Madan (8) was trapped leg before by Ashwin Yadav after adding 20 runs to the total. The other overnight batsman Uday Kaul (46) returned to the pavilion when the score read 268.
Amit Kakkar (45) was run out by Shoaib.
After Kakkar's exit the remaining three batsmen Birinder Singh, Amanpreet Singh (1) and Sarabjit Ladda (4) did not last long and the hosts lost the trio for just 17 runs.
Birinder claimed the two Hyderabad wickets of Daniel Manohar (8) and Anup Pai (2). Ravi Teja (51) played well to keep the scoreboard moving. Arjun Yadav (10) was at the crease with Teja when the day ended.
