Persistent seasonal rains played spoilsport permitting just 19-minutes of play on the second day of the four-day Elite-A Ranji Trophy Cricket match between Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu in Chennai on Sunday.

After two inspections by umpires, Sudhir Asani and Raju Rasodkar, play commenced at 11.30 am and after 3.2 overs, bad light followed by rain forced the match to be stopped.

Later, the umpires and match referee Suresh Luthra of Delhi decided to call off the day's play at 4.00 pm.

Resuming at 261 for four, Maharashtra, during the 20-ball stint, added 11 runs without any further loss.

When play was called off, overnight not out, Yogesh Vijay Takawale remained unbeaten at 60 (76b, 9 fours and one six) and Vishal Bilare was yet to open his account.

Medium pacers Yo Mahesh and Amarnath bowled the 20 balls.
