With his international career all but over, Darren Gough is excited at the idea of playing in the rebel Indian Cricket League and the England pacer says he is expecting a call from the organisers.

"Of course it would interest me, I hope they give me a call," Gough was quoted by Press Association (PA) Sport as saying.

"I'm 36 now, Warney and Brian Lara are a year or so older than me, so if there is a chance to play in an older guys' Twenty20 then I'd be up for it," he added.

Several retired stars like Brian Lara, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Inzamam-ul Haq have been linked to the proposed Twenty20 series to be organised by the Zee group.

"I read (about) it the other day and if I get the call then of course I'd play," he said.

The veteran pacer, who has played 159 ODIs for England, was ignored for the just-concluded World Cup, and feels the omission was a clear sign that his services were no longer required in the team.

"We always want to play and challenge ourselves at the highest level. England didn't pick me at the World Cup and I doubt I'll play for them again at 36, so any international cricket against the best players would be something I'd jump at," he explained.

The ICL, which has former greats like Kapil Dev, Dean Jones, Tony Greig and Kiran More on its executive board, is likely to start after the Twenty20 World Cup in September.
