The former India captain dismissed Cook in his first over, trapping him leg before as the batsmen played all over an intended on-drive.
Replays of the dismissal suggested the ball had moved so much down the famous Lord's slope that it would have missed his off stump.
Cook scored 36 in his 69-minute stay at the wicket. He faced 39 balls and hit six fours.
