Though cricket aficionados are having a good time in the ongoing second One-Day International between India and Sri Lanka at the Madhavrao Scindia cricket ground in Rajkot, few are aware that a State Reserve Police man died while on duty there.

Ishwar Makwana (45), a cop from the Nadiad wing of the SRP in Gujarat who was deputed to patrol outside the gates of the ground, suffered a massive heart attack just before the stroke of lunch. He was rushed to a hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

At the time of writing it is not known whether the players are aware of the tragedy.
