Riding on skipper Amol Muzumdar's 90, Mumbai scored 324 for nine against Himachal Pradesh on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy Super League Group A match in Dharamsala on Monday.

Muzumdar got the support from Ajinkya Rahane (37) and Vinit Indulkar (37) while Vinayak Samant, who is playing on 31, and Iqbal Abdulla (32) chipped in with crucial runs late down the order.

Left arm medium pacer Ashok Thakur grabbed four wickets giving 99 runs while Sarandeep Singh claimed two for 68.

Electing to bat, Mumbai lost the first wicket early in the second over when V Malik trapped opener Sahil Kukreja with just five runs on the board.

Rahane and Indulkar put on 77 runs for the second wicket. Rahane hit seven boundaries while Indulkar struck four.

After Indulkar fell to Thakur, Mumzumdar joined Rahane. But Sarandeep Singh got the wicket of Rahane in the next over to put Mumbai on the backfoot.

But Mumzumdar held the innings at one end as other batsmen batted around him. Muzumdar, who hit 13 boundaries and played 118 balls, missed out on the century as Thakur trapped him.
