Punjab piled up 496 for eight in their first innings on the second day of their Ranji Super League Group B match at the Gandhi Grounds in Amritsar on Monday.
The highlight of the day's play was Ravi Inder's maiden ton in the Ranji championship. Overnight not out on 84, Ravi scored a flawless 142 with the help of 22 hits to the fence. He became the second centurion for Punjab after opener Karan Goel had scored 121 runs on Sunday.
For Baroda, medium pacer Sankalp Vohra captured three wickets for 125 runs, while Yusuf Pathan and Sunit Singh scalped two wickets each.
Overnight 214 for one, the hosts lost Goel for the addition of just 13 runs to the team total. Goel could add just six runs to his individual overnight score of 121 before he was trapped in front by Sunit Singh.
Skipper Pankaj Dharmani (13) too did not last long as he fell leg before to Chauhan. However Ravi Inder found a useful partner in Uday Kaul (29) and the two added 60 runs for the fourth wicket, before the former fell to Sunit Singh at 317 and 21 runs later Kaul too departed.
Sunny Sohal and Ankur Kakkar were associated in a valuable 53 run stand for the sixth wicket. Sohal played an aggressive knock scoring 55 runs in just 64 balls with the help of eight fours and two sixes. Kakkar remained unbeaten on 56 and keeping him company at draw of stumps was Manpreet Gony on 27.
Gagandeep (27) and Kakkar contributed 69 runs for the eighth wicket to take the hosts past the 400-run mark. The play, which started late by 20 minutes due to morning fog, was called off ten minutes before the scheduled time due to fading light.
