After a disappointing performance against Maharashtra last week, Mumbai slumped to another low against Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy Super League match at Jhalawar on Sunday.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat and the decision boomerang thanks to one fast bowler from the home side.

Pankaj Singh had a five-wicket haul that helped Rajasthan get the upper hand on the opening day. Mumbai could only muster 290 for the loss of nine wickets.

Singh took the wickets of Sahil Kukreja, captain Amol Muzumdar, last match centurion Ramesh Powar, Vinayak Samant and Iqbal Abdulla to take his fourth five-wicket haul in Ranji Trophy.

For the visitors, Ajinkya Rahane, with 90 and Rohit Sharma (62) were the major contibutors with the bat.
