Bengal pile up huge total against Punjab

Bengal were in a commanding position after declaring their first innings at 513 for six in reply to Punjab's 241 on the third day of the Ranji Trophy elite group B match at the Kanchenjungha StadiumĀ in Siliguri on Monday.

Punjab were 64 for one with Ravneet Ricky (19) and Ravinder Singh (21) at crease at close of play.

For Bengal, Arindam Das and Manoj Tiwari scored centuries today after opener Anustup Majumder missed the ton by a whisker and had to return at 99 on Sunday.

Tiwary played 183 balls and scored 138 with 17 boundaries, while Arindam was given LBW at 103 with 14 fours. Kamal Hasan Mandal, the local boy, scored 37.

Punjab lost its first wicket when Karan Goel was given lbw bowled by Asok Dinda.
