Anil Kumble scored a dream maiden century in his last Test in England to put India high in the saddle at the end of the second day in the third and final Test at The Oval in London on Friday.

The 36-year-old bowler, better know for his leg spin exploits, joined in the run-feast as India scored a massive 664 in their first innings before reducing England to 24 for 1 by close of play.

The day belonged to No 8 batsman Kumble, who not only top-scored with an unbeaten 110 but also broke a jinx of sorts by posting the first century by an Indian in the ongoing series.

He was on 67 when last-man S Sreesanth (35) joined him. But the duo shared a 73-run last wicket stand to author a thrilling climax to the innings.

The entire Indian dressing room erupted in joy as Kumble scrambled to the magic figure after charging out and bottom-edging a Kevin Pietersen delivery past wicketkeeper Matt Prior for a four. He was unbeaten after the memorable knock during which he faced 193 balls and hit 16 boundaries and a six.

Join us in congratulating Kumble on his magnificent innings.
