Pressure is on us: Munaf

India's new pace spearhead Munaf Patel has a simple solution for India to reach the final of the ongoing tri-series in Kuala Lumpur -- win the next two matches.

"The pressure is on us. It is also on the West Indies to some extent. All we have to do is to win both the remaining matches," said Patel on Monday.

India are behind Australia and West Indies with just two points after the first round of preliminary matches.

While the inclement weather quickly turned a possible victory into defeat against the West Indies, the same factor saved them from an embarrassing defeat against Australia.

The Caribbeans, who registered a victory with a bonus point, are better placed than the Indians with the second and last set of matches to go.

Asked what he had learnt from the two matches in Malaysia which is hosting an international series for the first time, the right-arm pacer was candid: "Only about the rains."

For a change, the rains stayed away from the Indian team which went through a full practice session at the Royal Selangor Club ground this morning.

Patel was not willing to see too much in the performance of Aussie speedster Mitchell Johnson who picked four wickets to reduce India to 35 for 5 before the rains thwarted their victory bid.

"The ball was skidding due to the rains when Johnson was bowling", he said.

But Munaf was in awe of veteran pacer Glenn McGrath.

"He does not have the speed but maintains a great line and length. We all went and spoke to him," Patel said.

The 23-year-old bowler said he is satisfied with his performance in the match against Australia but added that he wants to better it.

"Line and length is the key here. If I concentrate on that, it could get better," he said.

Patel has opened the batting for his village team but said batting at the international level is a different cup of tea.

"I don't know batting," he said.

It has been about six months since Patel has been with the Indian team after making his debut in the second Test against England at Mohali but the lanky paceman said life has not really changed much.

"It is the same life as before from a village to the city."
