Left-hander Suresh Raina was injured on Friday during the practice match organised for the Indian cricket team before it leaves for the triseries in Malaysia.
The Uttar Pradesh batsman got hit when he deflected an Ajit Agarkar full-toss on to his cheek and started bleeding on the field.
Raina was playing for the India juniors in the practice match when the injury occured.
The blow required two stiches and doctors present at the ground did the needful, Indian team's biomechanist Ian Frazer said.
Raina did not take the field with his teammates in the second half of the practice match but is likely to play the second warm-up game on Saturday.
The triseries, to be held in Kuala Lumpur from September 12, pits India against world champions Australia and Champions Trophy winners West Indies.
