England's injury woes continued in India as fast bowler Steve Harmison was ruled out of the forthcoming one-day international series because of a bone stress injury to his right shin.

Harmison, who missed the third Test because of a sore shin, would be flown home and his place in the ODI squad will be taken by Matthew Hoggard.

"Stephen (Harmison) is still experiencing pain in his right shin and with the Test Series against Sri Lanka due to start in early May, we have decided that the safest course of action is to rest him from the forthcoming One-Day Series here in India," ECB chief medical officer Peter Gregory said..

"He has been advised to rest the injury pending a further re-assessment in the UK."

England are already missing captain Michael Vaughan, fast bowler Simon Jones and spinner Ashley Giles because of injuries.

Opener Marcus Trescothick left the tour before the start of the first Test because of personal reasons.

The first one-day international will be played in New Delhi on March 28.
