ODI history at the Wanderers

South Africa could find no effective answer to Ponting's unrelenting assault as he sprayed runs all around the ground.

He blasted 164 runs from 105 balls, with 13 fours and nine sixes, and it came at the same venue, where he had blasted 140 not out against India in the final of the 2003 World Cup.

He also became the first Australian to reach 9,000 runs in one-day internationals.
