Gujarat pacers Siddharth Trivedi and Hitesh Majumdar took four wickets each to skittle out former champions Karnataka for 163 runs in their first innings of the Ranji Trophy Elite Division match at the Motera stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
At close of play, the hosts were six for no loss after four overs.
After putting Karnataka into bat, the wiry Trivedi struck in the third over with the wicket of Karnataka opener Barrington Rowland. Further spoils from Gujarat's three pronged pace attack-- Trivedi, Majumdar and Ashraf Makda-- saw the visitors slide to 65 for five.
Bharat Chipli, who came one down, waged a lone war, going down finally after a well-crafted 76 in 93 balls, with the help of 13 fours.
Trivedi returned with figures of four for 49, while Majumdar was even more destructive at four for 34 in mere 16 overs.
