Apart from the Indian team's performance on the field, the conditions of stadiums in the country are in direct contrast to the money in the BCCI's coffers.
"We lack the discipline," asserts Shetty. "I agree that the facilities in most stadiums in India are not upto the mark. A lot needs to be done for the spectators as far as providing better seating, drinking water and toilets go.
"The Test match between India and England that the Wankhede hosted exposed us thoroughly. A lot of foreigners who came in to watch the match complained of inconvenience; the seating was cramped, there were no lifts to the third floor stands. We have taken up the issue and are making bucket seats all around, including the East stand. We hope other associations also look into the matter.
Having shifted to a new house, the BCCI should now look to put things into place.
