Windfall for record-breaking Yousuf

The record-breaking feats of prolific Pakistani batsman Mohammad Yousuf have brought him an unexpected windfall in cash and kind.

The Mr. Dependable of Pakistan cricket has received a staggering Rs 65 lakh in cash awards and a Honda City car for his performance in 2006 which saw him overtake some long-standing records of legendary West Indies batsman Sir Vivian Richards.

President Pervez Musharraf, who is also the Patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board, presented him Rs 10 lakh while the Governor of Sindh gifted him Rs 5 lakh, according to a report in The Nation.

Broadcasters ARY gave him Rs 10 lakh while an equal amount was given by TEN Sports. United Mobile gave out Rs 5 lakh and Fortune Group Dubai Rs 10 lakh.

Sarbuland Khan, a cricket lover from Rawalpindi currently based in the UK, shelled out Rs 5 lakh while Dr Shahid Tahir presented the batsman Rs 1 lakh.

The car, worth Rs. 9 lakh, has been given to him by sponsors Pepsi.

In addition to these, Yousuf would also receive a gold medal from PCB for being the man of the series and shaping the Test series victory against the West Indies.
