ICC Awards 2005

England's batting sensation Kevin Pietersen poses with his trophies after being named Emerging Player of the Year and ODI Player of the Year.

During the voting period, the hard hitting batsman played 21 one-day internationals was almost unstoppable, amassing 786 runs at an average of 87.33 with three hundreds, all against South Africa, with a remarkable strike-rate of 99.49 runs per hundred balls.

Pietersen polled almost twice as many votes as his closest rival, England team-mate Flintoff, who won the award in 2004.

"I'm flattered. I honestly didn't think I was going to get this award," Pietersen said.
