Despite uncertainties looming over his future as Pakistan captain, Inzamam-ul Haq said he is hopeful of leading the team in the upcoming cricket series against India which undoubtedly would be the "high point" of his career.

"I am looking forward to leading the side against India. For the boys any match against India is special," said Inzamam, whose captaincy came under severe criticism for Pakistan's lacklustre performance in the Test as well as in the triangular one-day international series in Australia.

"It would be the high point of my career leading the side in the full series in India," Inzamam was quoted as saying by local daily The News on Monday.

Inzamam said Pakistan is hoping to benefit from the experience it got in Australia.

"It is disappointing to lose the VB series finals 2-0 but I remain optimistic that the boys will show their improved play in India, a tour which is very important for us," he said.

Inzamam claimed that his side had improved gradually in Australia and pointed out that even when India toured Pakistan last year after playing in Australia their confidence and improvement was obvious to everyone.

"I am hoping we can also play there with the same confidence and show the improvement we have made in various departments in Australia," he said.

"The Australian tour is always very tough, they play their cricket hard. We didn't play well in the Tests but we were better in the one-dayers, so hopefully our guys will have learnt a lot from this."
