Murali Karthik returned to domestic cricket in style as he scalped five wickets to restrict Mumbai to 367 in the first innings against Railways at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

But the defending champions began their reply on the back foot, as they lost Sanjay Bangar early on and then crawled their way to 49 for one in 26 overs before stumps were called.

For Mumbai, Muzumdar, resuming the day on 106, added 17 runs to his total before he fell to India player JP Yadav.

Ramaesh Powar (74) waged a lone battle as Karthik ripped through the middle order to finish with figures of 95 for five in 42.5 overs.
