Tendulkar's top ten
155 vs South Africa in Bloemfontein, 2001
The innings in Bloemfontein exemplified why Tendulkar is considered the best of his age.
The wicket had a fair bit of juice, the South African pacers were making merry at India's reluctance and the tourists had slid to 68 for four on the first morning.
Tendulkar came out and blasted the over-rated bowlers round the park as if it was normal. It was a true sizzler from the Tendulkar plate and he went on to hammer 155 from 184 balls, with the help of 23 fours and a six.
The highlight of the series, and particularly this innings, were his calculated lifts over slips off the pacers.
He hit 38 runs, with the help of nine fours, behind the stumps on the off-side.
Riding on Tendulkar's innings and his 220-run partnership with Virender Sehwag (105), India notched up 379 runs in the first innings.
