Riding on Karuna Jain's ton, Indian eves won the fifth and final One-Day International by 38 runs against England in Kolkata on Friday to edge a convincing 4-1 series win before their coming trip to Pakistan.

India won the toss and elected to bat. Karuna Jain became the fifth Indian women cricketer to hit a one-day century as the home team posted a towering 243 for four in their 50 overs.

Karuna's brilliant innings was studded with 15 fours as she paid scant respect to any of the English bowlers. Karuna was ultimately run out by Brindle for 103 runs. Justifiably, she also got the Player of the Match award.

She was given some solid support by Jaya Sharma, who opened the innings with her and stood for a 139-run first-wicket partnership before Arran Brindle scalped her for a robust 59.

The other contributors for India were Asha Rawat (31 runs), Anjum Chopra (25 runs).

In reply, England top-order was rocked by some solid Indian bowling as they were reduced to 26 for four in the 13th over.

The Indian fast bowlers Amita Sharma, Jhulan Goswami and Rumeli Dhar did the damage. The England team never recovered from the setback and was bowled out for 205 runs with 3.1 overs to spare.

For England, Brindle and Lydia Greenway stemmed the rot with an 89-run partnership for the 5th wicket before Greenway departed for 40, stumped by Karuna off Nitu David. This sparked off the second slide as Varsha Raphael dismissed Brindle for 52.

Caroline Atkins (21) and Beth Morgan (22) tried to make a late surge but to no avail as the Indian bowlers chipped away the wickets to ensure another convincing win.

Karuna Jain for 169 runs and Jhulan Goswami for 11 wickets shared the trophy for Eve of the Tournament.
