Rain halts Mumbai surge

Mumbai piled up 344 runs to take a first innings lead of 158 runs against Karnataka on a rain-affected penultimate day of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' in Bangalore on Saturday.

Openers Robin Uthappa and Rowland Barrington were at the crease when the play was called off early due to rain without a run being scored.

Play only started at 1200 hrs.

The visitors could add only 107 runs to their overnight total of 237 as bowlers Akhil (2/55), Raghavendra (2/31) struck in frequent interval claiming two wickets each.

Akhil succeded in breaking the partnership between Indulkar (120) and Khanvilkar (43) when he clean bowled Indulkar to claim his first wicket in the match.
