Injury scare for Vaughan

England's preparations for the second Ashes Test against Australia suffered a blow on Tuesday when captain Michael Vaughan was struck on the elbow during net practice at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

"We can't make any comment on the nature of his injury until it has been diagnosed by medical specialists," said an England and Wales Cricket Board spokesman.

Vaughan's side trail the five-match series 1-0 after losing by 239 runs at Lord's 10 days ago.

The second Test starts on Thursday.
