Allan Border announced on Wednesday he was quitting his position on Australia's national selection panel.
The former Test captain had served on the four-man panel for seven years but said he was resigning because he was too busy with his other commitments, though he will remain as a director of Cricket Australia.
"Although I am still enjoying the involvement, the role of selector is a big time commitment that takes you away from home on a regular basis," Border said in a statement.
"At this stage of my life, I'm looking to do other things with my time."
Cricket Australia chairman James Sutherland paid tribute to Border and said there was no immediate decision on who would replace him. The three remaining selectors are Trevor Hohns, David Boon and Andrew Hilditch.
"Allan has made a remarkable contribution to Australian cricket well beyond his playing days," Sutherland said.
"His work as a selector has helped ensure some of the legacies he left as a player, have been carried on by the next generation of players."
