The newly-elected office-bearers of the Board for Control of Cricket in India will file a special leave petition before the Supreme Court on Saturday, challenging an order of a Division Bench of the Chennai high court restraining it from discharging its duties.
"We are holding consultations amongst ourselves and consulting legal experts. We will move the Supreme Court on Saturday," a senior official of the BCCI told rediff.com on Friday night.
Justice P D Dinakar and Justice K Ravirajapandian of the Chennai high court passed the order against the BCCI officials following a petition filed by Dyaneshwar C Agashe of the Maharashtra Cricket Association.
Agashe, in his petition, challenged the authority of former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalimya's decision to disallow either of the two factions of the Maharashtra Cricket Association to vote during the elections in Kolkata on September 29 and 30.
The Division Bench, in its order, appointed Justice (retired) S Mohan of the Supreme Court as administrator till settlement of the dispute.
Newly-elected president Ranbir Singh Mahendra is consulting legal experts, including former Union law minister Arun Jaitley, to draft a special leave petition, to be moved before Chief Justice R C Lahoti at his residence on October 9.
