Sri Lankan Ranjan Madugalle will be the match referee for the ice-breaking one-day and Test series between Pakistan and India starting on March 13.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday that Madugalle had been appointed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the five one-day internationals and three Tests.
The Indians arrive in Pakistan on March 10 for their first Test tour to Pakistan since 1989-90.
They did play three one-day internationals in Pakistan in September 1997 when Madugalle was also the match referee.
He was responsible for controlling an explosive situation during the first one-dayer in Karachi when the Indian players walked off the field after objects were thrown at them by a section of the crowd.
The PCB also announced that Australian Simon Taufel and Englishman David Shepherd would supervise the five-match one-day series along with local umpires Asad Rauf and Nadeem Ghouri.
The three Tests would be supervised by Shepherd and Taufel, Steve Bucknor and Taufel and Shepherd and Rudi Koertzen of South Africa.
