Mithali Raj will stand in as captain in place of an injured Mamatha Maben against Australia in the inconsequential seventh and last women's one-day cricket international in Chennai on Tuesday.

The Aussies have already clinched the series 4-2, but the Indian eves would be looking to salvage some pride and win the final match, especially in view of the team's preparation for the World Cup in March 2005.

Maben said she was more than happy with the performance of her team in the six matches which resulted in close finishes.

"We never frittered away any chance. Winning two matches against the mighty Aussies in itself is creditable. We are not inferior to either Australia or New Zealand, the World Cup winners, but we need to improve our fielding," Maben said.

Australian captain Belinda Clark expressed confidence of posting another win on Tuesday.

"We had never been complacent in the series and we took to each match seriously, since India have defeated both England and New Zealand at home in the recent past," she said.
