Waqar calls it quits

In December 1993, Waqar, then Pakistan captain, gave Zimbabwe a taste of his lethal pace bowling. He took 13 wickets (7-91 & 6-44) in the first Test in Karachi to led Pakistan to a mammoth 131-run victory.

He was a genuine strike bowler and it is no surprise that his strike rate is among the best in the history of Test cricket.

373 wickets in 87 Tests; a strike rate of 43.40, averaging 23.56, speaks volume of his ability. He claimed five or more wickets in an innings 22 times, and 10 wickets in a match five times.
