Maharashtra beat hosts Saurashtra by an innings and 79 runs on the fourth and final day to gain five points from their Plate `B' Ranji Trophy match in Rajkot, on Wednesday.

Resuming at their overnight score of 65 for three, Saurashtra continued with their lacklustre performance on the final day and were bundled out in their second innings for 187 in 96.5 overs.

K Vaghela and J Jobanputra made 36 each while R Dhruv remained not out on 28.

For Maharashtra, Iqbal Siddiqui, C Kulkarni and K Adhav bagged three wickets each.

Maharashtra had scored 443 in the first innings before bundling out the hosts for 177 in their first essay.
