Sachin Tendulkar played a vintage knock of 80 to save India the blushes against the Victoria Bushrangers on the opening day of their three-day tour game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

On their last tour of Australia in 1999-00, India had lost the first tour game against Queensland by the huge margin of 10 wickets. Incidentally, in the first innings of that match too Tendulkar had scored 83 in India's total of 277.
