Maharashtra gain first innings lead

Brilliant knocks by opener D Jadhav and skipper H Kanitkar helped Maharashtra gain a 98 run lead on the second-day of their Ranji Trophy Plate Group 'B' match against Saurashtra being played at Rajkot on Monday.

Maharashtra were 275 for six at close.

Resuming at their overnight score of 63 without loss, Maharashtra lost their wickets at regular intervals.

Opener Niranjan Godbole added just two runs to his overnight score before being trapped leg before by S Jobanputra.

However, 67-runs by D Jadhav and 60 runs by skipper H Kanitkar helped Maharashtra gain first innings lead. Jadhav's 67 came off 135 balls with 11 fours, while skipper Kanitkar's 60 came off 161 balls.

K Khadikar with 30 and S Satbhai on 11 were at the crease when the stumps were drawn.

For Saurashtra left arm seamer S Jobanputra and left arm spinner R Dhruv shared two wickets each.
