Old warhorse Javagal Srinath has retired from international cricket.
The 34-year-old fast bowler, who spearheaded India's bowling attack for almost 13 years, had hinted at retirement after the World Cup in South Africa, where he had a fine tournament, picking 16 wickets.
Earlier, he had announced his retirement in June 2002 after a dismal tour of the Caribbean. Skipper Sourav Ganguly failed to convince him to make the tour of England that followed. Srinath, however, returned for the home series against the West Indies in October 2002 but skipped the Test series against New Zealand in December only to participate in the one-day series and then the World Cup.
He played 67 Tests and took 236 wickets, including 10 five-wicket hauls with a career-best 8 for 86 against archrivals Pakistan.

In 229 one-dayers, he bagged 315 wickets.
During the Challenger Trophy in Bangalore in September, Srinath had said if he is unable to tour Australia the young Indian pace attack which he described as the best the country has seen would compete hard.
"I was not there during the England tour but they bowled so well and won a Test. Isn't that proof enough?" he said.
Having already toured Australia twice his experience could have been the perfect foil for the young pacers embarking on their maiden Australian tour.
Asked about donning the mantle of bowling coach, Srinath had said, "This is something worthwhile considering."
