DID YOU KNOW?

Former Australian skipper Mark Taylor was christened 'Helium Bat' very early in his career by team mates, due to his habit of lifting his bat over his shoulder and letting anything bowled outside the off-stump go by.

At 1.98m, Jacob Oram is a hard man to miss on the field. But in recent times, the all-rounder has been noticed more for his ability with the bat and ball. He has impressed with the ball and bowls with a lot of control. His great height helps him achieve disconcerting bounce even from the most placid pitches. A high degree of agility in the field makes him a truly complete player.

A naturally aggressive batsman, Oram has shown that he has he ability to stay at the wicket for long periods of time when neccessary. He came into the side as a bowler but, of late, has been very impressive with the bat too. Injuries early in his career saw him miss the 2001-02 season, but he came back strongly in 2002-03 to seal a place for himself in both the Test and ODI sides. Oram is fast developing into the player that New Zealand will need to replace the injury plagued Chris Cairns once the star all-rounder decides to retire.
