Statistical highlights of 2nd Test at Delhi (3rd day)

** The Ganguly-Sehwag partnership of 120 runs was the best for India against Zimbabwe for the fifth wicket bettering the 67 runs put on by Rahul Dravid and Ganguly at Harare in October 1998.
** Ganguly's hundred was his maiden three-figure score as a captain in 18 matches. His previous highest was the unbeaten 98 he made against Sri Lanka at Kandy last August.
** This incidentally was the 40th hundred by an Indian captain in Tests. Sunil Gavaskar has the distinction of scoring the maximum - 11 hundreds.
** The last Test hundred by an Indian captain before this one was the 116 by Sachin Tendulkar against Australia at Melbourne in December 1999.
** This was the seventh hundred by a Test captain against Zimbabwe. The others to do so are: New Zealander Martin Crowe (140 at Harare, November 1992), Pakistani Wasim Akram (257 not out at Sheikhupura, October 1996), Australian Steve Waugh (151 not out at Harare, October 1999), West Indians Jimmy Adams (101 not out at Kingston, March 2000) & Carl Hooper (149 at Bulawayo, July 2001) and Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya (139 at Kandy, January 2002).
** This was Ganguly's eighth hundred of his career in 53 matches and 89 innings. His last hundred before this one came in October 1999 against New Zealand at Ahmedabad when he scored 125. Since then in 22 Tests and 39 innings he had just four scores in the fifties to his credit, while scoring 912 runs (avg. 26.82).
** This was Ganguly's third hundred at the number three position. He had scored his first-two hundreds in this position against England at Lord's and Nottingham in 1996, which incidentally came in the first and second innings of his career.
** Although much has been said about Ganguly's running between the wickets, it would surprise many to note that he has been run-out only once in his entire Test career - against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in March 2001. However he has the dubious distinction of being involved in seven run-outs of his partners. Dravid has the misfortune of being run-out on three occasions with Ganguly at the opposite end.
** This was the second time Ganguly has been involved in run-outs of two colleagues in the same innings. Last year in August at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground against Sri Lanka, Ganguly was involved in the run-outs of Dravid and Mohammad Kaif in the same innings.
