Cronje verdict to be announced on Wednesday

Former South Africa captain Hansie Cronje will learn on Wednesday whether his appeal against a life ban from the game has been successful.

Justice Frank Kirk-Cohen will begin delivering his judgment in the Pretoria High Court at 10 a.m. ((0800GMT) and the verdict is expected to take about an hour to be delivered.

Cronje was banned for life by his former employers, the United Cricket Board of South Africa, after admitting to taking over $130,000 in bribes from illegal bookmakers to influence the course of matches.

Cronje's lawyers claimed in the High Court three weeks ago that he had been entitled to a hearing before the ban was applied and that the ban infringed on his personal rights and South African labour law.
