Agarkar out of second Test
Pace bowler Ajit Agarkar has been ruled out of next week's second Test against Australia because of a viral infection, an official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India said on Tuesday.
"Ajit has been suffering from viral fever since the third day of the first Test," BCCI executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar informed.
"He has recovered, but since he's been advised rest by doctors due to weakness, he has been ruled out for the second Test. He should be fit in time for the third Test."
Agarkar played in India's 10-wicket defeat in the first Test in Bombay last week. The second Test starts in Calcutta next Sunday and the third in Madras on March 18.
Agarkar's pace partner Javagal Srinath, who fractured the index finger of his right hand during the Bombay Test, is doubtful for the second Test.
India coach John Wright said last week that a decision on Srinath would be made three days before the Test.
