Best of the last 16: Buchanan
Australian cricket coach John Buchanan on Saturday said his team's ten-wicket victory over India, in the first Test at
the Wankhede stadium, on Thursday, is the best of its record 16-Test-winning streak.
Speaking after net practice in Bombay, Buchanan said his team has no injury worry and both Justin Langer and
Mark Waugh are completely fit.
"However, we would like to try out some new combinations in the three-day game against the Board President's XI, at
Delhi, from March 6," he added.
"Among the last 16 Test wins I consider the victory at Mumbai memorable, as we had to play under different conditions against some good bowling attack, particularly by Harbhajan Singh and Ajit Agarkar, in patches," Buchanan said.
"In fact, each Test win has special significance and players responded to the challenge individually and collectively
and it is a great start to the tour especially when you have a win under your belt in a three-Test series."
Asked whether Michael Slater's poor form is cause for
worry, Buchanan said: "Slater is technically and mentally
strong and I am sure he will get back to form soon."
He said the Wankhede pitch certainly had a lot in it for
the bowlers, adding, "We are not complaining and are prepared to take
on the Indians on any kind of pitches."
