1st Test at Mumbai - Day 3
** The partnership of 96 runs between Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar was India's best against Australia at this venue. The previous best was the 75 put on by Sunil Gavaskar and Mohinder Amarnath in October 1986.
** Ajit Agarkar's poor run with the bat continues - his seventh duck (all in a row) against Australia makes him the first batsman in Test history to do so against an Aussie team. Bhagwat Chandrasekar had recorded nine ducks in a row from December 1967 to January 1978 against the Australians. However his 'duck sequence' included three not-outs - 0 0 0* 0 0 0* 0* 0 0.
** This duck was Agarkar's seventh in Test matches in 14 innings. His now joins Australian Alan Hurst (10 ducks in 20 innings) & Zimbabwean Adam Huckle (7 ducks in 14 innings) of having with the worst 'duck frequency' to 50 percentage in Test history. While score
** Agarkar's second inning duck was his third 'pair' (zeros in each innings of a match) of his short Test career - all coming against Australia. He now joins England's left-arm spinner Bobby Peel who had also recorded three pairs against Australia between 1895 to 1896.
** The wicket of the hapless Agarkar was off-spinner Mark Waugh's 200th of his first-class career in 319 matches. He has now also extended his tally of Test wickets to 54 in 109 matches.
** Michael Slater during his unbeaten knock of 19 (when on 14) in the second innings became the 12th Australian and the 46th batsman in Test history to reach 5000 Test runs. He was playing in his 68th Test match and 120th innings of his career.
** The loss by ten-wicket was India's eleventh such defeat in Tests. The last occasion India lost a Test match by 10 wickets was at Brisbane in December 1991. Interestingly the last time India lost a Test by this margin at home was also at this same venue against England in the Golden Jubilee Test match in February 1980.
** For Australia it was its 25th win by ten-wickets in Tests and its third against India.
** The Australians who extended their winning sequence to 16 Tests, handed India it fifth consecutive defeat. Since the Bangalore Test match in March in 1998 the Australians have now won five Tests in a row against India after losing two (in Chennai and Calcutta). The last occasion the Australians won five consecutive matches against India was from December 1967 to November 1969.
** This match became the fifth such Test match in India to be completed in less than four days. India has been on the receiving end for the third time. Last year the South Africans too defeated the home side inside three days. The full list:
England beat India by 8 wickets from 12-14 January, 1952 at Kanpur

His win percentage of 77.27 is now the best in Test history among captains who have led their side in at least 12 matches. Following Waugh is late Sir Don with a wining percentage of 62.50 (15 wins in 24 matches).
