Brett Lee to miss Indian tour

Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has been ruled out of the tour to India due to an elbow injury sustained while fielding in Sunday's game against Zimbabwe in the Carlton & United one-day series.

Lee will undergo surgery tomorrow, February 6, to mend his medial ligament and flexor tendon in his right elbow.

It was while returning the ball from near the boundary during Zimbabwe's innings that Lee did the damage. He remained on the field and even bowled a few more overs towards the end before going off the ground for treatment. That spell of bowling did not result in any further damage to the elbow.

Brett Lee The injury was scanned in Perth before
Lee flew to Melbourne to confirm that the problem was indeed serious.

The exciting young fast bowler said, " This is bitterly disappointing especially as I've only just come back from the back injury that kept me out of three Tests. Ironically, my back's fine."

"It's obviously a set-back but I will be trying to remain as positive as possible and I'll be looking forward to the series that follow the tour of India. "

Lee hopes to stage a comeback during the tour to England and the Ashes series that will follow the tour to India.
