Tendulkar finds nothing wrong with Wright
After skipper Sourav Ganguly, master batsman Sachin Tendulkar also favoured John Wright continuing as coach of the national team, saying the former New Zealand captain is trying hard to put
India on the success path.
Asked specifically if he would recommend continuing with Wright, who completed his one-year contract as coach,
Tendulkar replied: "I would say so. He (Wright) has done a
good job."
Tendulkar's support for Wright comes two days after
Ganguly came out in strong defence of the coach in Ahmedabad,
saying: "There is no question of changing John Wright. He has
been a very good coach."
Tendulkar said: "He (Wright) is a good coach. He is trying
hard on us (the team). I appreciate his efforts. Success does
not come overnight. He is trying hard at it."
Tendulkar's comments came during a chat with reporters
after he along with Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi - Adidas
India Ambassadors - showcased the official natch ball of the 2002
FIFA World Cup at the Adidas exclusive store in Bangalore.
On the prospects of the team in the third and final Test
against England, starting in Bangalore on Wednesday, he said cricket
is a tough game and it's hard to predict.
"Both sides are good. We will try our best."
Tendulkar said he does not follow football "very much",
but added he is a keen follower of tennis and Formula one.
